Active development of a quarry requires the use of a large number of electrical distribution equipment in the form of mobile distribution cells to provide electricity to consumers of the quarry, a transformer substation of a pumping station. Electrical equipment is dispersed over a large area and requires periodic relocation as mining operations progress. Changes in the location of distribution cells, as well as their dispersion over aт area, make it difficult to maintain and control their work, control high-voltage equipment.

The technical service of Belanovskiy mining and processing plant requested to organize a central power dispatch office for remote work with the equipment of mobile distribution cells in the quarry and the transformer substation by the company’s replacement power engineer. The project has implemented the following tasks:
- monitoring the state of distribution cells and substations,
- remote control of the equipment of distribution cells and substations,
- automatic generation of reports about equipment operation, power consumption, emergency modes.
In addition, an access control system is provided for access inside of the distribution cells and the high-voltage substation to exclude the presence of unauthorized personnel.
The project provides implementation of a mobile workstation for a power engineer: the control system was transferred to a tablet, from which the power engineer of the enterprise has the ability to control remotely the equipment of the transformer substation, distribution cells on the spot. To provide authorized access to the high-voltage equipment control system, personnel identification by fingerprint is provided.
Belanovskiy mining and processing plant conducts its activities with the implementation of innovative technologies, development and optimization of existing processes. The applied design solutions will allow the power personnel of Belanovskiy mining to respond more quickly to emergencies with electrical equipment, reduce downtime of technological equipment, and efficiently keep track of energy resources within the framework of the company’s energy management system.
Technologies applied in project:
- CAD EPLAN Electric P8 applied during development of electrical diagrams and other project documentation;
- TIA Portal solution. WinCC Professional from Siemens applied for software development
- Modbus, Profinet, ZigBee networks (wireless communication of substations to a control room)
- Integration with access control system
